It's that time of year again. Time for NaNoWriMo!!!!
For those of you who don't know, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. It takes place every November. But for me the two months leading up to it is NaNoWriMo are dedicated to prep time.
These two months give me time to write up an outline and research places or professions that pertain to my story to help make sure I get my facts right. I can't really write about brain surgery without knowing how it's done; I would look like a fool if I did that.
This is also the time in which I get to know my characters and get into the head space of writing their story for others to read. For all my main characters I fill out a questionnaire form I stumbled upon last year. It asks everything from their name to what they feel when they see a stranger. It really helps me to get to know my character inside and out so I can properly represent them in their story.
As for right now, the biggest thing I am working on is a rough plot outline. I picked my stories plot in mid August and I am so pumped for it. I can wait to get Piper's story down on paper. She's been bugging me since August to let her tell her story, but I have to wait until I have all my ducks in a row to do that. Also would help if I waited until November 1st so it counts towards NaNoWriMo.
I'm not going to tell you too much about Piper's story right now, but I will tell you that it is an angst-y love story that contains unspoken love, heartache, betrayal. Happy ending is still pending; we'll see where life takes me in the next few months to see if I want a happy ending or not.
Hopefully you'll follow along with me on my journey through NaNoWriMo. Keep checking back for more updates.
